It starts with a chew and it ends with a… well it’s undeniable that the more visceral aspects of our digestive systems hold a fascination for children. For their Body Gallery Eureka National Children’s Museum tapped into this, taking visitors on a lively, interactive journey through the digestive system.
Working with the Eureka learning team I developed a technical specification, creative concepts and storyboards for a wild ride across four hybrid physical/digital stations, mashing down the food with levers, balancing stomach acids with pumps, spinning through the lower intestine, and in the finale pulling a plunger to score plops into a toilet bowl.
Leaning into the physicality of the subject, I worked with an illustrator on a cartoon reimagining of biological functions that can otherwise feel abstract, meeting the exhibit’s learning goals for young audiences without dumbing down the science.
